What Does the AHA PALS Provider Course Cover?

The goal of the Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) course is to improve the quality of care provided to critically ill or injured children, resulting in improved outcomes. Using the systematic Evaluate-Identify-Intervene pediatric assessment model, students master rapid response to pediatric respiratory emergencies, shock, and arrhythmias.

Pediatric Assessment & Respiratory Emergencies Core Assessment

Differentiating respiratory distress from respiratory failure; upper airway obstruction, lower airway obstruction, lung tissue disease, and disordered control of breathing.

Shock Recognition & Fluid Resuscitation Clinical Scenario

Hypovolemic, Distributive (Septic), Cardiogenic, and Obstructive shock protocols. Vascular access (IV and IO needles) and fluid bolus guidelines.

Infant & Child Voice-Directed CPR Check Hands-On Sensor

High-fidelity chest compressions on infant and child digital manikins with audio sensor feedback on depth (1.5 inches for infant, 2 inches for child) and gentle ventilation volumes.
